Your Product Didn't Come With a Manual. Now It Does.
Inspired by Xia Huang, Ph.D., Project Manager at DEKRA, speaking at the 2026 ISPE AI in Life Sciences Summit, Boston
At the ISPE AI in Life Sciences Summit in Boston, June 22 and 23, there were a number of conversations that went beyond the classic, "here is an AI use case I want to market". I found the device orientated talk that Xia Huang, Ph.D. said, to be one of those.
"Giving birth to a baby is kind of like developing a new product."
As much as this was a charming remark following his words on this past Fathers Day and caught a well deserved laugh from me and the audience, he wasn't trying to be cute. He was making a serious point about post-market responsibility for AI-enabled devices. This grabbed my attention.
Labor is the easy part.
You hold ultimate responsibility for your product. Not the regulator. Not the standard-setter. You. Even without harmonized frameworks, you proactively monitor. That is your obligation.
The same way a parent thinks… you don't wait for your kid to get hurt before you start paying attention.
"My child didn't come with a how-to manual."
I've heard my mom say it plenty of times.
Post-approval, teams are watching for signal drift, model changes, adverse events, regulatory updates, often across jurisdictions, often manually, often too late. No unified playbook. No early warning system.
That's the gap.
KeyPedia is the manual.
KeyPedia turns 483s, warning letters, recalls, import alerts, and inspection outcomes into a real-time alert framework, across FDA, EMA, MHRA, Health Canada, and PMDA. KeyPedia is the alert signal framework that goes beyond basic monitoring of GMP data, and beyond the AI layer most quote as enough.
Huang's last line: "AI should be managed as a lifecycle system."
KeyPedia provides the tools that allows quality teams to see problems earlier and act before they escalate.
