FDA 483 - American Airlines - October 24, 2018

An FDA inspection of American Airlines' aircraft maintenance facility in Greensboro, NC, revealed two observations related to sealant application and condition on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The observations primarily concerned gaps in sealant along floor and wall joints and sealant that was not smooth, easily cleanable, or was deteriorating in lavatories and near a flight attendant seat. These findings indicate minor deficiencies in maintenance practices related to aircraft interior integrity.
