FDA 483 - Quint T Egg Farm - April 08, 2011

On April 8, 2011, the FDA inspected Quint T Egg Farm, a shell egg producer located at 3819 Powells Valley Road, Halifax, PA 17032. The inspection, conducted by Investigators Michael J. Mero and Margaret E. Di Gennaro, resulted in four observations.

Observation 1 noted that environmental testing for Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) was not performed 4 to 6 weeks after the end of the molting process. Specifically, the firm's records indicated the molting process ended on September 10, 2010, but SE environmental testing was conducted on October 5, 2010, which was outside the specified 4 to 6-week window.

Observation 2 stated that required records did not include the farm's location. Refrigeration monitoring records from July 9, 2010, through March 20, 2011, lacked this required information.

Observation 3 indicated that required records did not include the time of the activity reflected. Rodent monitoring records from July 9, 2010, through March 17, 2011, were cited for not including the time.
