An FDA inspection of Roland Veterinary Clinic in Roland, IA, revealed significant violations related to the extralabel use of an approved drug in a food-producing animal. The clinic administered Sustain III Bolus to a beef cow contrary to its labeling, resulting in an illegal sulfamethazine residue nearly 47 times the allowed limit. Furthermore, the clinic failed to establish a scientifically supported extended withdrawal period for this extralabel drug use.
