China NMPA Drug Inspection - Anhui Yuanhetang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and 15 other companies - 17 batches of Chinese herbal medicine slices

The Shandong Provincial Drug Administration issued an announcement on November 18, 2019, detailing the outcomes of drug quality sampling inspections carried out by the Shandong Provincial Institute for Food and Drug Control and other accredited testing institutions. These inspections identified significant quality standard non-compliance across 18 batches of pharmaceutical products. Notably, one batch of medicine produced by Zuojinming Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was found to be unqualified. Furthermore, 17 batches of traditional Chinese medicine decoction pieces from 15 enterprises, including Anhui Yuanhetang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., also failed to meet the required quality standards.

Under the regulatory framework of the Shandong Provincial Drug Administration, municipal authorities have implemented stringent control measures, including sealing, seizing, suspending sales, and recalling the substandard products. Investigations and legal proceedings have been initiated or are in progress against the implicated manufacturers and sampling units. The authorities are also tasked with enhancing supervision of these products and companies to ensure thorough root cause analysis, the development and execution of effective rectification measures, and the comprehensive elimination of any associated risks to public health and safety.
