On December 7, 2017, the Heilongjiang Provincial Food and Drug Administration issued an announcement concerning nine batches of unqualified traditional Chinese medicine pieces. Tests conducted by five drug testing institutions, including the Heilongjiang Provincial Food and Drug Inspection and Testing Institute, identified non-compliance in products from five companies. The primary issues involved non-compliant items related to the appearance and other inspection criteria of the traditional Chinese medicine pieces. In response to these findings, regulatory authorities implemented immediate control measures, such as sealing and seizing the affected products. The sampled companies were mandated to cease sales and usage of the non-compliant batches and to implement corrective actions. Furthermore, municipal and prefecture-level food and drug administration departments were instructed to investigate the illegal sale of these substandard drugs. These departments are required to disclose the outcomes of their investigations concerning the involved enterprises within three months, in accordance with Articles 73, 74, and 75 of the *Drug Administration Law of the People's Republic of China*, and report their findings to the Provincial Bureau.
