China NMPA Drug Inspection - Henan Baiyuankang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. - Stir-fried jujube seeds

The Henan Provincial Food and Drug Administration, operating within China's regulatory framework, issued an announcement on December 6, 2017, detailing findings from drug inspections. This announcement identified five batches of substandard drugs from three companies: Henan Baiyuankang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Yuzhou Jindi Traditional Chinese Medicine Pieces Co., Ltd., and Lushi County Zhongkang Traditional Chinese Medicine Pieces Co., Ltd.Henan Baiyuankang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was cited for two batches: Psoralea corylifolia (batch 160401) was deemed generally substandard, and Fried Ziziphus jujuba var. spinosa (batch 160401) failed due to excessive moisture content. Yuzhou Jindi Traditional Chinese Medicine Pieces Co., Ltd.'s Atractylodes lancea (batch 150201) was found substandard regarding its active content. Lastly, Lushi County Zhongkang Traditional Chinese Medicine Pieces Co., Ltd. had two batches fail: Lycium barbarum (batch 160401) for moisture and Schisandra chinensis (batch 170501) for impurities.In response to these violations, the Henan Provincial Food and Drug Administration mandated immediate risk control measures. These actions included sealing, seizing, and suspending the sale of the affected drug batches. Additionally, relevant regulatory departments were instructed to conduct thorough investigations and impose legal penalties on the manufacturing and sourcing units responsible for the substandard products, underscoring a commitment to pharmaceutical quality and safety.
