China NMPA Drug Inspection - Weifang Municipal Institute of Dermatology and Venereology - Jing Antipruritic Granules

An announcement from the Shandong Provincial Food and Drug Administration, dated November 10, 2017, revealed that several medical institutions were found to be producing substandard preparations. Facilities including Zibo Boshan District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Weifang Skin Disease Prevention and Treatment Institute, Liaocheng Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, and Tancheng County Skin Disease Prevention and Treatment Station were cited. The primary violations involved a failure to meet required quality standards, specifically concerning "identification and inspection" for seven batches of products. These affected products ranged from traditional Chinese medicine capsules and granules to creams and lotions. In response, relevant municipal food and drug administration bureaus initiated immediate control measures under the provincial regulatory framework, including sealing, seizing, suspending sales, and recalling the non-compliant preparations. Investigations and legal prosecutions have been launched against the responsible institutions. The bureaus are further required to strengthen oversight, urge the institutions to identify the root causes of these failures, implement corrective actions, and effectively eliminate potential health risks associated with the substandard products.
