On September 27, 2017, the Henan Provincial Food and Drug Administration released an announcement detailing findings from drug inspections, identifying seven batches of substandard Chinese medicinal materials from five different entities. Key organizations implicated include Zhengzhou Xueyinghua Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.'s Cuimiao Pharmacy, Gaocun Village Health Clinic, and Zhengzhou Yukuntang Pharmaceutical Chain Co., Ltd. (Jianshe Road and Guandu Street stores), alongside Zhongmu County Dongfeng Road Community Health Service Center and Zhongmu County Third People's Hospital. The core violations involved quality control deficiencies in traditional Chinese medicines. Samples such as silkworm pupae, earthworms, and lygodium japonicum exhibited non-compliant total ash content, while Cornus officinalis and Ziziphus jujuba seeds contained unacceptable levels of impurities. These issues were determined through testing based on the stringent standards set forth in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2015 Edition, Parts I and IV, which forms the primary regulatory framework. In response, the Henan Provincial Food and Drug Administration has initiated immediate control measures, including the sealing, seizing, and suspension of sales for all affected drugs. Further actions include thorough investigations and legal proceedings against the responsible units that supplied or distributed these substandard pharmaceutical materials.
