China NMPA Product Recall - Disposable medical masks

Dongguan Pusi Medical Packaging Technology Co., Ltd. has initiated a voluntary Level III recall for its disposable medical masks, formally reported to the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) and the relevant Provincial Food and Drug Administration on October 10, 2020. The recall specifically targets certain batches of flat ear-hook type disposable medical masks, model 175mm×95mm-3, produced on March 1, 2020. A total of 9,900 units of these affected products were distributed within China. The core reason for this recall stems from the masks' failure to meet critical air resistance requirements, identified during a routine random inspection. This violation indicates the masks may not provide the intended barrier against contaminants, which is crucial for their application in ordinary medical environments where they are designed to cover the user's mouth, nose, and chin. Operating under the oversight of the NMPA, the company is undertaking necessary corrective actions consistent with applicable medical device regulations. These actions involve the removal of the identified substandard masks from circulation to uphold product quality standards and safeguard public health.
