China NMPA Product Recall - Disposable medical masks

Hebi Likang Sanitary Materials Co., Ltd. initiated a Level III voluntary recall for a batch of its disposable medical masks. This action stemmed from a random inspection conducted by the Henan Provincial Market Supervision Administration on April 15, 2020, which found the masks non-compliant with ventilation resistance regulations. The specific affected product was identified by batch number 2020021007, from which 36,000 units were sold within Henan Province. The National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) publicized this recall information. Despite the company’s voluntary recall, Hebi Likang reported that all products from the non-compliant batch had already been sold out due to the high demand for epidemic prevention materials, making physical recall impossible. The company stated that the raw materials, meltblown fabric, for this batch were allocated by the epidemic prevention command center, and other company products using similar materials had met testing standards.
