China NMPA Product Recall - Medical protective masks

Henan Shanren Medical Technology Co., Ltd. initiated a voluntary Level III recall of its medical protective masks following a sampling inspection by a provincial bureau that revealed non-compliance with sealing requirements and substandard fit. These issues meant the masks did not meet the technical specifications for medical protective masks, despite being intended for use in medical environments to filter airborne particles and block droplets. The recall involved 53,900 units from production batch number 20200430 and sterilization batch 20200509A1, which were distributed across Sichuan, Guangdong, and Zhejiang provinces. The company reported a low probability of injury and minimal risk, with no customer complaints or adverse event reports received to date regarding this specific issue. Under the oversight of the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), the company's required actions, as reported on September 16, 2020, included immediately ceasing production, issuing recall notices to customers, and developing a comprehensive recall plan. Furthermore, Henan Shanren Medical Technology Co., Ltd. committed to recalling all substandard products, destroying them under regulatory supervision, and fully cooperating with official investigations and any subsequent enforcement actions. The NMPA publicly announced this recall on November 24, 2020.
