China NMPA Product Recall - Disposable medical masks

The National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) announced on September 30, 2020, a voluntary Level III recall by Henan Yidejian Medical Supplies Co., Ltd. for a batch of its disposable medical masks. This action, reported on September 2, 2020, stemmed from a random inspection by the Henan Provincial Medical Device Inspection Institute, which identified non-compliance with regulatory standards. The primary issues cited were insufficient tensile strength and breathability resistance. Specifically, the breaking strength at the connection point between the mask straps and the mask body did not meet the required minimum of 10N, potentially compromising the mask's barrier function. In response, Henan Yidejian Medical Supplies Co., Ltd. initiated a recall of the affected batch, comprising 50,000 units. Although the products had already been sold and used, resulting in a recall quantity of zero, the company committed to a thorough analysis of the non-compliance's root causes. Furthermore, they are implementing corrective and preventative measures to enhance product quality and ensure future adherence to NMPA regulations.
