China NMPA Product Recall - Soft hydrophilic contact mirror

Hunan Haipuming Technology Co., Ltd. voluntarily initiated a Class II recall for specific soft hydrophilic contact lenses (model HC40, batch A21011401, posterior vertex power -4.00D) on March 29, 2021. This action, reported by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) on March 30, 2021, was due to a discrepancy between the labeled power and the actual product specification. An internal investigation revealed that negligence by labeling staff caused products marked as -4.00D to not possess that precise power. While the risk of patient harm was deemed minimal, the issue affected the normal functionality of the product, with 1099 units from the implicated batch sold in China. In response, Hunan Haipuming Technology communicated recall notices to customers via WeChat and telephone. The company conducted a thorough quality analysis, implemented corrective and preventative measures, and provided additional staff training to prevent recurrence. All recalled products are scheduled for central destruction following comprehensive testing, reinforcing the company's commitment to quality assurance under NMPA regulations.
