FDA EIR - Bravo Packing, Inc. - April 16, 2014

An FDA surveillance inspection of Bravo Packing, Inc., a manufacturer of frozen animal feed for carnivorous diets, was conducted on April 16, 2014, under the Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) Inspection Program/Ruminant Feed Ban Rule (Compliance Program 7371.009). The inspection, which followed a previous visit on April 2, 2013, aimed to ensure compliance with regulations pertaining to animal feed production.

The current inspection identified two main issues. An employee was observed smoking in the cow slaughter area, presenting a potential sanitation risk. Additionally, the firm uses water from an unverified source for facility cleaning but lacks regular testing for its quality and could not provide documentation for its filtration system. This water testing concern was also raised during the previous inspection.

Company President Joseph J. Merola promptly addressed the smoking incident with the employee and committed to re-educating all staff on safety protocols. Regarding the cleaning water, Mr. Merola stated he would arrange for regular testing and obtain the necessary filtration system documentation from their service provider. On a positive note, Bravo Packing, Inc. had voluntarily improved its record-keeping since the last inspection, organizing incoming and outgoing product records for efficient review. No exhibits were collected during this inspection.
