FDA EIR - Mars PetCare US, Inc. - July 12, 2023

The FDA conducted a comprehensive Preventive Controls Surveillance Inspection of Mars PetCare US, Inc. at its Aurora, Nebraska facility from July 10 to July 12, 2023. This inspection, performed under Compliance Program Guidance Manual 7371.000 (Comprehensive Animal Food Inspection) and related program assignment codes, evaluated the pet food manufacturer's adherence to regulatory standards for its dog and cat food products, including brands like IAMS and Pedigree.The inspection encompassed a detailed review of the firm's food safety plan, hazard analysis, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), employee training, complaint handling, recall procedures, manufacturing and warehouse operations, and pest control. All associated records were also examined.Significantly, at the conclusion of the inspection, no Form FDA 483 (Inspectional Observations) was issued, and no discussion items were presented to the firm. This indicates that no significant violations or deviations from regulatory requirements were identified. Two FDA-related complaints were reviewed and closed, though the firm's internal records did not match them. Mars PetCare US, Inc. was reminded of its ongoing responsibility to comply with the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to prevent potential enforcement actions.
