FDA WARNING_LETTER - Chassy Bagels, Inc. DBA House of Bagels - February 16, 2012

On September 7, 2012, the FDA issued a Warning Letter to Chassy Bagels, Inc. dba House of Bagels, Inc. following an inspection from February 2-16, 2012. The inspection revealed significant violations of Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) regulations (21 CFR Part 110), causing their food products to be adulterated under section 402(a)(4) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the Act) due to insanitary conditions.

Specific CGMP violations included: 1. Failure to adequately clean and sanitize bagel processing equipment and utensils (21 CFR 110.35(d)(5)). Dough residue was observed on food contact surfaces after cleaning, and plastic crates for ready-to-eat bagels were only cleaned weekly. 2.
