FDA WARNING_LETTER - Livestock Nutrition Center - September 17, 2024

On April 11, 2025, the FDA issued a Warning Letter to Livestock Nutrition Center, LLC, following an inspection from August 29 to September 17, 2024, at their Garden City, KS, animal food manufacturing facility. The inspection was prompted by a Reportable Food Registry (RFR) report concerning multiple animal deaths linked to the firm's non-medicated feed, LNC Pasture Gold 24-5 Plus, lot #7153.

FDA and third-party lab analyses confirmed the presence of monensin, a medicated feed ingredient, in the non-medicated LNC Pasture Gold 24-5 Plus, which was not formulated or labeled to contain it. Concentrations ranged from 638 mg/kg to 2110 mg/kg. Evidence, including necropsy reports, indicated monensin toxicity as the cause of animal deaths. The firm initiated a voluntary recall on August 26, 2024.

The inspection revealed significant violations of 21 CFR Part 507 (Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Food for Animals), rendering products adulterated.
