FDA WARNING_LETTER - MIN JIANG FOOD STORE INC DBA KOI KOI TRADING - June 24, 2025

The FDA issued a warning letter to Min Jiang Food Store Inc, doing business as Koi Koi Trading, following an inspection from June 10 through June 24, 2025, at its Commerce, California seafood facility. The inspection and subsequent laboratory analysis revealed significant violations of seafood safety and manufacturing regulations, specifically the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) requirements and Current Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines. Environmental testing found Listeria welshimeri on numerous food-contact surfaces, such as knives and preparation tables. This bacterial presence, combined with the company’s history of pathogenic Listeria contamination, indicates that sanitation procedures are inadequate to prevent health risks. Furthermore, the firm failed to maintain a safety plan for fresh tuna portions and did not follow established protocols for monitoring the internal temperature of received products. These conditions render the facility"s ready-to-eat fish products adulterated under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. The FDA requires the company to respond within 15 working days with a detailed plan for corrective actions, including a root cause analysis of the contamination and evidence of improved sanitation monitoring. Failure to address these violations may result in legal action, including product seizures or the suspension of the facility"s registration.
