On August 3, 2020, the FDA and FTC issued a Warning Letter to the operator of www.mmstabs.com and www.facebook.com/mmstabs for selling unapproved and misbranded MMS products claiming to mitigate, prevent, treat, diagnose, or cure COVID-19. The FDA reviewed the websites on July 20 and 30, 2020, identifying violations of sections 505(a) and 502 of the FD&C Act (21 U.S.C. § 355(a), § 352), prohibiting the introduction of unapproved new drugs and misbranded drugs into interstate commerce under sections 301(a) and (d) (21 U.S.C. § 331(a), (d)).
Examples of violative claims include "Our protocol has been tested in China for the past two months and is been used around the world," "Chlorine Dioxide (CLO2) destroys all viruses naturally. FACT!", and "All these products are loaded with COVID-19 virus killing MMS." The FTC also cited violations of the FTC Act (15 U.S.C. 41 et seq.) for unsubstantiated claims lacking competent and reliable scientific evidence.
The company must immediately cease selling these products and, within 48 hours, email COVID-19-Task
