On February 22, 2022, the FDA and FTC issued a Warning Letter to MyNaturalTreatment.com for promoting unapproved and misbranded products related to COVID-19. The review of their website and Facebook page on January 18 and February 11, 2022, revealed that as an Amazon Associate, they promoted thyme, black seed, eucalyptus, rosemary, and peppermint oils with claims implying they could mitigate, prevent, treat, diagnose, or cure COVID-19.

These claims render the products unapproved new drugs under FD&C Act Section 505(a) and misbranded drugs under Section 502. The introduction or delivery of these products into interstate commerce is prohibited under Sections 301(a) and (d), and misbranding while held for sale after interstate shipment is prohibited under Section 301(k).

The letter cited specific claims, such as "How to Make Your Own Natural Antiviral for COVID-19" and descriptions of essential oils as "natural antiviral for Covid-19." The FDA requested immediate cessation of sales of these unapproved products and a response within 48 hours detailing corrective actions and preventative measures.
