FDA EIR - Taylor Farms Retail Inc - January 13, 2021

An initial, remote Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) records review was conducted by the FDA for Taylor Farms Retail Inc. from December 30, 2020, to January 13, 2021. This inspection, carried out under the FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) Fiscal Year 2021 work plan, focused on verifying the firm's compliance with regulations concerning imported human food. The review specifically examined the company's FSVP and import records for fresh produce, including various types of lettuce and broccoli crowns. These products were imported from Taylor Farms Baja California S de RL de CV, located in Mexicali, Mexico. During the comprehensive review of purchasing, sales, and distribution documents, as well as hazard analyses conducted for the imported foods, the FDA investigator found that Taylor Farms Retail Inc. maintained an active and compliant FSVP. Significantly, the inspection concluded with no FDA observations, and no FDA Form 483 (Inspectional Observations) was issued, indicating a satisfactory level of compliance. There were also no complaints or refusals related to the imported products on file. Discussions with management during the closeout reinforced the understanding of FSVP regulations and the importance of timely provision of English documentation for review.
